J = It is not rocket science to believe such things. Even the foolish and the lowest of men believe these things. But the difficulty, and therefore the virtue and merit, lies in believing what we cannot see and what is difficult to believe.
J = This is what the Apostle Peter and the other apostles learned. They did not always know, and in fact almost never knew, what was going to happen. They moved forward blindly, so to speak, in the service of the Lord. Of course, grace descended abundantly upon them so that they could walk in the footsteps of the Lord. They were led by grace, which guided them on the Way. Of course, they could have chosen not to follow the inspiration of grace, but that would have brought many calamities upon them. They allowed grace to work within them. That is why they did not see everything that would happen, for they had to believe. That is why the virtues of Faith, Hope, and Charity became holier, greater, and stronger in them. And their charity for their Lord and Master was strengthened when they saw His works and His virtues. They were truly driven and led by the virtues and perfect purity of their Master. They were, so to speak, fascinated and drawn by His high and sublime Virtue, so incomparable that no man has ever attained it or ever will. And I must say that they were attracted by the grace and radiance of His Majesty. So much so that even unbelievers were attracted, or would have been, if they had seen Him.
But see who is speaking to you: it is I, Judas Iscariot, one of the twelve, I who betrayed this great and incomparable Master. After all I had seen, I should have attained the highest holiness, but instead I veiled my own face... As humanity does today... I refused to open my eyes, I did not want to believe. At least, I did not want to believe sincerely. I don't want to talk anymore!... Exorcism, then the three acts of Faith, Hope, and Charity, with the prayer "We pray to you, Lord Jesus, and we give you thanks, etc."
